Global Shapers Youth Forum

A national Youth Forum set for June 28th will gather nearly 200 young people from various youth organisations to discuss the youth perspectives on the Barbados economy.

The Forum, a free event be hosted between 9.30 am - 12.30pm, June 28th at Olympus Theatres, organised by the Global Shapers Bridgetown Hub, will offer young people an opportunity to voice their opinions, share ideas, and think together about what they can do to improve the current situation in Barbados.

The priority is clear: youth are capable actors of change who can pull their weight in the mechanisms of economic hardship. Young people are also on the vanguard of progress – as entrepreneurs, activists and community leaders.

The Youth of Barbados have the talent, energy and ideals to come up with solutions to our current situation in Barbados and The Global Shapers Bridgetown Hub believes this panel discussion will provide policymakers with an understanding of the youth perspective on these issues.

The Forum will be moderated by Corey Lane, and panelists such as Krystal Boyea, Imran Richards, Akanni McDowall, Jeremy Stephen, Kemar Saffrey and Donnya Piggott will lead the discussion on social policy, economic reform, healthcare and other issues. Various youth led organisations, such as UWI Guild of Students and United Youth Leaders of Barbados.

The Forum will be streamed live on Facebook and social media, and questions can be submitted before the event via Facebook or Twitter using #BetterBim. You can find more information on the Global Shapers Bridgetown Hub Facebook page.

The Forum is youth-led and has been organized the Global Shapers Bridgetown Hub. The Global Shapers Community is a worldwide network of Hubs developed and led by promising young leaders who want to build on their achievements and entrepreneurial drive to make a positive contribution to their communities. It is an initiative of the World Economic Forum and is independent, neutral, non-political and not for profit.
